洪恩朗文3L看听学英语第三册 Lesson 25:Television Day: The Flyer
Narrator:
The children’s favourite subject is General Knowledge. They watch a programme on television every week. There is a television in their classroom.
TV Commentary:
Today our programme is about the first aeroplane with an engine. For thousands of years men couldn’t fly. It was too difficult. Birds are able to fly with their wings. It is very easy for then to fly. But men haven’t got wings. The first aeroplanes were gliders—planes without engines. The first plane with an engine was the Flyer. Two brothers, Wilbur and Orville Wright, built it. On December 17th, 1903, Orville lay on the bottom wing of his plane and started the engine. The Flyer was able to take off with its own power. It rose 10 feet and flew 120 feet. This was a great moment in the history of flying.
