2012 will be packed with performances by one of China's oldest and most famous national orchestras -- The Beijing Symphony Orchestra. And some of the lucky audiences will be overseas.
Their first performance of the New Year will be on February 8th, for the 3D animation concert "Mad Instrument". They'll be playing pieces from works like "Yunnan Fantasy" and "The Northwest Suite" by Chinese composers Zhang Qianyi and Wang Xiling.
They'll also be performing melodies by Stravinsky. The Orchestra will hold over 100 performances in venues around the capital including the National Center for Performing Arts, and The Beijing Concert Hall.
This year the orchestra will feature some international conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach and Lawrence Foster. In July they will travel to England to perform with the London Philharmonic for the opening of London Olympics' "Beijing Arts Week".
