Cyclist Makes it Around the World in 78 Days
一名自行车骑手用78天环游世界
A long-distance cyclist smashed a world record this summer by cycling around the world in just under 79 days. Mark Beaumont previously set the world record in 2008 by cycling around the world in 194 days. Many cyclists have since broken that record, but Beaumont beat the most recent record by 44 days. The 34-year-old British cyclist left Paris on July 2 and arrived back at his starting point 78 days later. His personal goal was to finish the route in 80 days. The goal was inspired by Jules Verne’s classic novel, Around the World in 80 Days. Beaumont cycled for an average of 16 hours per day and only got about five hours rest each night.
