The boy spent a sleepless night.
圣地亚哥一夜未眠。
Two hours before dawn, he awoke one of the boys who slept in his tent, and asked him to show him where Fatima lived.
再过两个小时天就亮了，他叫醒睡在他帐篷里的一个阿拉伯小男孩，请他带路去法蒂玛住的地方。
They went to her tent, and the boy gave his friend enough gold to buy a sheep.
他们一起走出帐篷，来到法蒂玛的帐篷前。作为回报，他给了小男孩能买一只羊的钱。
Then he asked his friend to go to into the tent where Fatima was sleeping, and to awaken her and tell her that he was waiting outside.
然后，他请小男孩叫醒法蒂玛，并告诉她说他正在等她。
The young Arab did as he was asked, and was given enough gold to buy yet another sheep.
小男孩照他的话做了，并为此得到了能再买一只羊的钱。
"Now leave us alone," said the boy to the young Arab.
“现在让我和法蒂玛单独待会儿。”圣地亚哥在等待法蒂玛的时候，对阿拉伯小男孩说，
The Arab returned to his tent to sleep, proud to have helped the counselor of the oasis, and happy at having enough money to buy himself some sheep.
小男孩便回自己的帐篷睡觉去了，他为帮助了绿洲顾问而自豪，也为得到买羊的钱而高兴。
Fatima appeared at the entrance to the tent.
法蒂玛出现在帐篷门口。
The two walked out among the palms.
两个人走进了椰枣树林。
The boy knew that it was a violation of the Tradition, but that didn't matter to him now.
他知道这是违背传统的，但眼下顾不上那么多了。
"I'm going away," he said.

"And I want you to know that I'm coming back. I love you because ..."

"Don't say anything," Fatima interrupted. "One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving."

But the boy continued, "I had a dream, and I met with a king. I sold crystal and crossed the desert.

And, because the tribes declared war, I went to the well, seeking the alchemist.

The two embraced. It was the first time either had touched the other.
