Hey, guys. Charlie here.

Let's talk a little Weird But True behind the scenes for the tree episode.
He strikes.
The storyline starts with Kirby watching amazing nature documentary.
This show is amazing.
Being really excited about it,
and then looking in her backyard
and feeling that by comparison, everything looks super lame.
Why would I want to go into a boring backyard when I can watch a jaguar take out a crocodile in the Amazon?
We have two twigs in front of us.
So, the way that I decided to prove Kirby wrong is by showing her that something as seemingly simple as trees could be really fascinating.
So I take her to the coolest tree experience that you can possibly imagine.

Climbing the largest trees in the entire world, giant sequoias.

In one day, we had to take a television show and shoot it in a tree 300 feet in the air, which was absolutely insane.
Our camera guy, Gabe, had never climbed a tree before in his entire life.
This is his first try.
He has climbed...
Precisely zero sequoias.
Precisely zero sequoias, and he learned how to climb trees today.
First, our guides get up to the top.
Then, our cameraman.
We lug all of the equipment up and then Kirby and I climb up.
I made it, into the canopy.
Stopping every once in a while and filming segments directed towards the camera.
You can't really tell how high you are until you look out and then just see this huge amazing view.
Everything was going swimmingly,
but then there was one segment,
where I was sitting at the end of a branch and talking about cones,
and our cameraman apparently for him it was the one moment where you can really kind of realize you're like 350 feet off the ground.
He'd say like, ready, set, go.
And then he'd like hold his breath, and point out the camera towards me
until he ran out of breath, and then he had to like, baah!
Look away and sort of like breathing kind of heavily and settle himself down.
He had to just take a moment to search within himself to find the strength to keep going.
But, he charged through, he did his job, and it turned out absolutely amazing.
