It is 1991. A young girl walks up and down the busy streets of Hanoi City, Vietnam.

Her name is Duong Than Binh.

Binh is only twelve years old.
董丹平只有12岁。
She should be in school.
她应该在学校。
But her family are too poor to pay for her education.

So instead she makes money as a street seller.
因此，她以在街头卖东西赚钱。
She buys household goods.
她买家居用品。
These are the small things that people use in the home - things like the soap and shampoo that people use when they wash.
这些都是人们在家里使用的小东西——比如人们洗澡时使用的肥皂和洗发水。
Then, she sells these things in the street.
然后，她在街上卖这些东西。
She makes a small profit.
她赚了一小笔钱。
Binh works hard for many hours each day.
董丹平每天努力工作好几个小时。
It is difficult. But, Binh has dreams.
这很难。但是，董丹平有梦想。
She believes that one day things will change. Life will get better.
她相信总有一天情况会改变。生活会变得更好。
Ten years later, Binh stands in the middle of Hanoi Star Hotel.

The young woman smiles happily. And she has reason to.

She is the proud owner of Hanoi Star Hotel!

She has come a long way from selling goods on the streets!

So how did she do it? How did she overcome her difficult start in life - and become a successful business owner? Here is her story.
那么她是怎么做到的呢？她是如何克服人生初期的困难，成为一名成功的老板的呢？下面是她的故事。
Binh was born in Hung Yen territory in Vietnam.
董丹平出生在越南河阳。
When she was twelve years old, she left her family and her home.
当她十二岁的时候，她离开了她的家人和家。
She moved to Hanoi City to try and earn money.
为了挣钱，她搬到了河内市。
Here, she bought goods to sell on the street.
在这里，她买了一些商品在街上卖。
She made a profit on the things she sold.
她靠卖东西赚了钱。
But, it was not easy in Hanoi City. She said,

‘Hanoi was new and strange to me at first.

There were times when I felt worried, depressed and sad.

I did not know what to do. I cried for myself. I cried for my mother. And I cried for my family.

But I always believed that I should work hard to defeat all the difficulties in life.

I told myself to work harder and learn more.

Then, in the future I would feel proud of having done something useful.

It would be for my family and community - although at the time it did not seem possible.’
