户外旅游:意大利的黄昏
In 1912 D.H. Lawrence left England and began to record his reactions to foreign cultures. He wrote travel articles, two of which are published here for the first time, after having been rejected as too anti-German for newspapers. In 1915 he composed essays for Twilight in Italy (1916). Charged by the anxieties of the war it evinces a confidence and intellectual daring beyond the conventional travel sketch. The text eliminates errors of transmission and editorial interference (recorded in the textual apparatus). The Introduction gives the composition, publication and reception. Appendices show Lawrence's travel routes and two facsimile typescript pages.
