China's safety watchdog is calling on local governments to take immediate action to make school buses safer.
The State Administration of Work Safety says local governments should start to correct problems now, rather than wait until relevant regulations are passed.
The demand comes after a school bus accident in eastern China's Jiangsu province killed 15 children.
Monday's accident in Jiangsu is the third serious school bus accident in China in less than a month.
Meanwhile, in another accident yesterday, 2 students were killed, and more than 20 others injured, when a school bus collided with a truck in central China's Henan province.

Chinahas now expressed it's regrets over the death of a South Korean coast guard.
South Korea says a member of the country's coastguard was stabbed to death by a Chinese fisherman suspected of illegal fishing in the Yellow Sea on Monday. Another coastguard was injured in the conflict.
The fisherman has denied any wrongdoing.
South Korea's foreign ministry has summoned the Chinese ambassador and lodged an official protest to the incident.

French foreign ministry says the move is "bad news for the fight against climate change."
Canada has become the first nation to pull out of the global treaty.
The move is expected to save money for the country.
The country's annual emissions have risen by about one third since 1990, which is impossible to meet the requirements under the Kyoto Protocol.
The latest UN climate talks in Durban, South Africa concluded with a signed agreement to begin talks next year on the creation of a new legally binding deal. The agreement will come into effect by 2020, and is largely regarded as a replacement for the Kyoto Protocol.

4-nation patrol succeeds in 1st escort mission over Mekong

Three Chinese police vessels have returned safely to their home port in southwest China's Yunnan province, ending the first mission in newly established joint patrols to escort vessels passing along the Mekong River.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Security says the four-nation patrol has set a mutually beneficial model for China to cooperate in law enforcement with neighbors in the field of security.
Last month, China, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar decided on the joint patrol along the Mekong River, after 13 Chinese sailors onboard two cargo ships were shot to death in October.

U.S. Defense Secretary pays surprise visit to Afghanistan

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is reportedly paying a surprise visit to Afghanistan.
During his two-day visit, Panetta will meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Defence Secretary Abdul Rahim War-dak. He will also visit the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, troops and U.S. embassy staff.
His visit is the second stop on a holiday tour that began in Africa and will later take him to Iraq, Libya and Turkey.
However, Afghan Defense Ministry says they have received no information on Panetta's visit.

Iran displayed the U.S. drone on television last week and said it was downed by using electronic technology.
