Iranian state media is reporting that the Australian academic Kylie Moore-Gilbert's been released from prison in Iran where she's been held for more than two years. A video has been broadcast of the Australian wearing a grey hijab and a mask. State TV says she's been released in exchange for three Iranian prisoners held overseas. Kylie Moore-Gilbert was sentenced in 2018 to 10 years on espionage charges which she denies.
There's been another COVID case in South Australia with a school student becoming the latest person to test positive. It's unclear whether the case is linked to the Parafield cluster which began when a security guard at a Medi-Hotel caught the virus from a returned traveller and spread it to others. In response to the outbreak, premier Steven Marshall has announced an overhaul of the Medi-Hotel system.
Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60. His lawyer has confirmed he had a heart attack weeks after undergoing brain surgery. Maradona played in four World Cups, famously captaining Argentina to victory in 1986 winning the golden ball as player of the tournament. Argentina's president has declared three days of national mourning.
