Once there was a scholar.
曾经有一个学者。
He was very poor,but he was very much concerned about his reputation.
他非常穷，但是他很在乎自己的名声。
One evening,a thief broke into his house,
一天晚上，小偷闯进了他的家，
but he couldn't steal anything.
但他什么也没有偷到。
So he said,What bad luck!
于是他说，太倒霉了！
How poor this family is!
这家真是太穷了！
The scholar heard that,
学者听到了这些话，
then he tried to find a little money and went after the thief.
然后他找到了一些钱，追了出去。
He stopped the thief and said:
他叫住了小偷并说道：
You come at a most inopportune time.
你来的时间不巧。
I just have this little money.
我只有这些钱。
Would you please not talk about this with others?
请你不要跟别人说这事好吗？
for goodness' sake.
看在上帝的份上。
By all means leave me a little face!
