二、翻译技巧

1.词性转换

名词转化为动词

The sites that are nominated for inclusion on the list are chosen for their unique qualities and for being the best examples of our cultural and natural heritage.
那些被提名列入名单的遗迹之所以被选中，是因为它们的独特性，它们出色地代表了我们文化遗产和自然遗产。

名词转化为形容词

Their photographs also remind us of the fragility of our planet / and the urgency of protecting these sites / in order to ensure that they will continue to enchant future generations.
他们的照片也提醒我们地球是脆弱的，/ 当务之急是保护这些遗产，/ 以确保我们的子孙后代也能为之感叹。（同时运用拆分的技巧）

2.拆分

Every country possesses sites of local or national interest, /which are a source of national pride.
每个国家都有地方性或全国性的历史名胜，/ 它们也是国家的骄傲。（定语丛句单独成句；a source of 采用省略技巧，不需译出。）

3.语序调整

One of UNESCO’s goals is to raise international awareness of the necessity of safeguarding the richness and diversity of our heritage by using images and, in particular, photography, which provides a visual record of our history.
联合国教科文组织的目标是利用反映历史的视觉形式——图像尤其是图片的形式使国际社会日益认识到保护我们丰富多彩的遗产是必要的。
