1．take pains to do努力做某事

We must take pains to do meticulous work among the masses. 我们必须下功夫在群众中做细致的工作。

I'm taking great pains to get promoted. 我努力要升职。

Can you make it pay to take such pains to do this job? 你这么费心做这事，值得吗？

2．strive to do something努力做某事

Strive to be what you wish to appear. 你希望自己如何表现，就努力做去。
