John : Do you think he'll get promoted this time around?
约翰：你觉得他这次会被升职吗？
Mary: Why not? I have every confidence in his promotion. He works hard and deserves it.
玛丽：为什么不会呢？我对他的升职挺有信心的，他工作努力，这是他应得的。
John: Really? It looks to me more like he's just good at getting along with everyone.
约翰：是吗？在我看来他只是跟每个人都相处融洽而已。
Mary: Partly, but he is also very hardworking and creative. He knows how to make the customers happy too.
玛丽：这只是部分原因，他工作也很努力而且具有创新精神。他还知道如何取悦客。
John: But I've been working hard. I feel like I should get the promotion．
约翰：但是我工作也很努力的，我觉得我该得到升职才对。
Mary: Maybe you should. You do work hard.
玛丽：也许吧。你工作确实很努力。
John: I feel good about my chances for getting it. I'm quite optimistic.
约翰：我觉得自己很有机会得到升职。我很乐观。
Mary: That's exactly how you need to think. You can do it.
玛丽：这还真是你该考虑的问题了。你能做到的。
John: Thanks for the optimism. It feels good to hear people say nice things sometimes.
约翰：谢谢你这么乐观地看好我，有时候听别人说自己的好，感觉还真是不错呢。
