Unit 6 A Girl in Grocery Store
A guy observed a woman in the grocery store with a three-year-old girl in her basket.
As they passed the cookie section, the child asked for chocolate and her mother told her “Not now.”
The little girl immediately began to get upset, and the mother remarked quietly, “Now Tina, we just have half of the aisles left to go through; don't be upset. It won't be long.”
He passed the Mother again in the candy aisle. Of course, the little girl began to shout for candy. When she was told she couldn't have any, she began to cry.
The mother remarked, “There, there, Tina. Only a little bit longer, and then we'll be checking out.”
The guy again happened to be behind the pair at the checkout, where the little girl immediately began to clamor for a toy and burst into tears upon discovering there would be no toy for her.
The mother patiently remarked, “Tina, we'll be through this check out stand in ten minutes, and then we can go home.”
The guy followed them out of the store and stopped the woman to compliment her. “I couldn't help noticing how patient you were with little Tina ...”
The mother said, “My little girl's name is Shelia... I'm Tina.”
