World Health Day: China's 2015 focus is food safety

Today is World Health Day, and food safety is the focus this year. The day is one of eight official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization.
This year, China is embracing the day by highlighting the challenges and opportunities associated with food safety.
In China, more than 200 million people are affected by food-borne diseases each year, with pregnant women, children and the elderly particularly at risk.
Last year, 111 people in China died from food-borne illnesses.
