China's stock market rebounds strongly
中国股市强势反弹
Tuesday is the last trading day in the first half of 2015 on China's stock market, and the stocks have rebounded strongly. The benchmarket Shanghai Composite Index finished at a little more than 4277, surging 5.5 percent at the closing bell.
The market has seen wild swings over the past two weeks. Panic selling by investors had knocked the Shanghai Composite Index down over one fifth from its June 12th high. But Tuesday's comeback shows renewed investors' confidence, boosted by the pension funds investment and a slew of other policy moves.
Despite the continuous falls in recent weeks, China saw the longest bull market since its bourses started trading in 1990.
During the past six months, China's exchanges topped the global list in terms of funds raised through Initial Public Offerings, or IPOs. And the gaining margin of the ChiNext board, China's Nasdaq-style board of the growth enterprises, hit a record high of 98 percent, the highest around the world.
