“The car park?” said Zaphod, “what are you doing there?”“停车场?”
“Parking cars, what else does one do in a car park?”“停车,一个人在停车场还能干吗?”
“OK, hang in there, we’ll be right down.”“好吧,你再坚持一下,我们这就下来。”
In one movement Zaphod leapt to his feet, threw down the phone and wrote “Hotblack Desiato” on the bill.
“Come on guys,” he said, “Marvin’s in the car park. Let’s get on down.”“走吧,伙计们,”他说,“马文正在停车场。我们下去吧”
“What’s he doing in the car park?” asked Arthur.“他在停车场干什么?”
“Parking cars, what else? Dum dum.”“停车呗,还能干什么?走吧,走吧。”
“But what about the End of the Universe? We’ll miss the big moment.”“可是宇宙的终结怎么办呢?我们将会错过这个最盛大的时刻。”
“I’ve seen it. It’s rubbish,” said Zaphod, “nothing but a gnab gib.”“我以前看过的。一钱不值,”赞福德说,“小猫一只。”
“A what?”“一只什么?”
“Opposite of a big bang. Come on, let’s get zappy.” Few of the other diners paid them any attention as they weaved their way through the Restaurant to the exit. Their eyes were riveted on the horror of the skies.“创世大爆炸的反面而已;走吧,咱们去找别的事干。”
“An interesting effect to watch for,” Max was telling them, “is in the upper left-hand quadrant of the sky, where if you look very carefully you can see the star system Hastromil boiling away into the ultra-violet. Anyone here from Hastromil?”“值得观察的一个有趣的现象,”马克斯正在对他们说,“就在天空左上角的那个扇面内。如果你看得非常仔细的话,你会看到哈斯特洛米尔星系正蒸腾成紫外线辐射。这里有人来自哈斯特洛米尔吗?”
There were one or two slightly hesitant cheers from somewhere at the back.
“Well,” said Max beaming cheerfully at them, “it’s too late to worry about whether you left the gas on now.”“好吧,”马克斯说,一边高兴地冲他们微笑着,“现在再担心你们是不是忘了关煤气,似乎已经太晚了。”
