Beckham was desperate to enjoy the dish on board and he ordered it from Tony's Pie and Mash Shop. The cost of serving it on board took the normal price of 4.45 pounds to a jaw-dropping 1,000 pounds.

A friend of Beckham said: "There were times David took a private flight from London and ordered pie and mash."
