The risk of developing breast cancer increases with age, but Chinese women are being diagnosed at a younger age compared to their Western counterparts, according to China Anti-Cancer Association.
中国抗癌协会称,乳腺癌患病风险随年龄增长而提高,但中国女性的乳腺癌诊断年龄低于西方女性。
The average age of Chinese women being diagnosed with breast cancer is between 45 and 55, about 10 or even 20 years younger than their counterparts in Western countries, said Zhang Jin, vice chair of the association's breast cancer committee.
中国抗癌协会乳腺癌专业委员会副主任委员张瑾称,我国女性乳腺癌诊断的平均年龄在45岁-55岁,大约比西方国家女性诊断的平均年龄小10岁、甚至20岁。
Zhang said more than 10% of breast cancer patients in China were aged below 35.
张瑾称,我国超过10%的乳腺癌患者年龄在35岁以下。
Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor among women. According to a report, about 279,000 new breast cancer cases are reported in China each year.
乳腺癌是女性最常罹患的恶性肿瘤。一份报告称,我国每年新发乳腺癌病例约27.9万例。
If detected early, 95% of breast cancer patients can be cured. However, patients in rural and remote areas often do not get tested until it is too late.
如发现及时,95%的乳腺癌患者可被治愈。然而,农村和偏远地区的患者接受检查的时候常常为时已晚。
"Self-examination is important, but it cannot replace cancer check-ups," said Zhang. "With improved medical technology, the treatment of breast cancer involves not only survival but also the quality of life of patients in the future."
张瑾表示:“自我检查很重要,但它不能代替癌症检查。随着医疗技术的进步,乳腺癌的治疗不仅要涉及存活,还要涉及在未来日子里患者的生活质量。”
