China is working on formulating standards for treatment of internet addiction in youngsters, a medical expert said.

One in 10 Chinese youngsters is addicted to the internet, a condition listed as a mental disorder by the World Health Organization this year, Lu Lin, president of Peking University Sixth Hospital, said at a regular press conference of the National Health Commission.
北京大学第六医院院长陆林在国家卫健委举行的例行新闻发布会上表示，世界卫生组织今年将网络成瘾纳入精神疾病，我国10%的青少年网络成瘾。
The rate is higher than the worldwide incidence rate of 6%.

Lu said youngsters' over reliance on the internet is the result of many problems, such as the parent-child relationship, school performance and attention defect disorder.

Standards for treatment of internet addiction are in the making, he said, noting youngsters who are addicted to the internet can improve their situation by better communicating with parents and friends, or engaging in social activities and exercise.
