177.Dancing for a Man
177.舞为他跳
"Put it on! It looks great!" Beth said to Julie as she pulled out some eyeliner from her purse.
"抹上点儿吧！这样好看！"贝思对朱莉说，她从包里拿出一些眼线膏。
"Everyone will want to dance with you if you wear that."
"抹上之后每个人都会想和你跳舞的。"
"I only want to dance with Tom," Julie replied.
"我只想和汤姆跳。"朱莉回答道。
"That may be pushing your luck. But you never know. Let's go."
"你可能太贪心了。不过也很难说。我们走吧。"
When they arrived at the dance hall, Julie almost pulled away from Beth not to go in.
来到舞厅，朱莉差点从贝思身边逃走了，因为她不想进去。
Beth pushed her on, however, and they made their way into the crowd.
但是贝思不停地鼓励她，最后俩人走进了人群。
After pulling through a particularly packed area Beth dragged Julie over to the women's room.
等到好不容易穿过一个特别拥挤的地方之后，贝思硬拉着朱莉进了女盥洗室。
"Wow. There are a lot of people here. It's just too bad the public amenities are so poor,"
"哇，这里的人真多。公共便利设施却这么差，真不像话。"
she said as she pushed over some trash from the sink.
她边说边把洗手池里的一些垃圾推到一边。
"Look at this bathroom. It's a mess. Someone even punched a hole in the wall over there."
"你看这个盥洗室。多乱啊！有人甚至在那边墙上打了个孔。"
"Did you see Tom?" Julie asked.
"你看到汤姆了吗？ "朱莉问。
"Yeah. He's here. Now push up your bra a little bit and let's go find him."
"看到了。他在这里。你把你的胸罩向上推一点，我们去找他吧。"
Back to the hall Julie and Beth danced over near Tom.
回到舞厅，朱莉和贝思在汤姆身边跳起舞来。
When he saw Julie, he pulled her in through the circle of women around him and started dancing with her.
看到朱莉，汤姆把她从周围的女人圈拉进来并开始和她跳舞。
Those women didn't like that，however，and practically pulled Julie's clothes to pieces as they yanked her away from Tom.
那些女人却不髙兴这样，她们把她从汤姆身边拉走时差不多把朱莉的衣服撕成了碎片。
One almost pulled her down. Julie held on, however, and escaped.
有一位差点把她推倒在地。不过朱莉挺住并逃走了。
"That was stupid!' Julie said to Beth when they were back in the women's room.
"多傻啊。"回到女盥洗室朱莉对贝思说。
I'm not going to push for a guy that other women are fighting about. Forget Tom. Let's see if there are other men to dance with."
我可不想争取一个一大帮女人为了他而争风吃醋的家伙。忘了汤姆吧。看看能不能找到其他舞伴。"
"Now we're talking，" Beth said. "There's a lot of fish in the sea, baby, let's go catch one."
"说的也是贝思说。"天涯何处无芳草，我们去找一个吧。"
