Lesson Seven How to say “毛骨悚然”in American English?

首先，let's have a review. 您还记得在第七课第一讲中我们讲述的与“be scared to death”同义的地道美语表述法吗？它是：make one's hair stand on end , 与以下我们中文四字短语同义：毛骨悚然，不寒而栗，慑人心寒等等。

不知道大家看过这部电影以没有？这部电影曾在葡萄牙国际电影节上一口气拿下了最佳导演奖和最佳女主角奖，导演是：尹宗仙，女主角是：张真英。这是一部韩国恐怖篇，名字就叫做《毛骨悚然》。这部电影不卖弄神鬼，而是靠音效和场景营造阴气。I saw it and made my blood run cold. 我看了这部电影，令我毛骨悚然。大家注意听了吗，我今天用了一个含有make, m-a-k-e 这个使役动词的动词短语结构表述“毛骨悚然”的意思。I repeat it again. Listen carefully. Are you ready? Here we go.

I saw it and made my blood run cold. I saw it and made my blood run cold. Well ,what's it.? It is: make one's blood run cold. Blood 是血，"run cold" means "become cold". 它们连在一起就是“让血变冷了”，也就是我们中文说的“吓得浑身冰凉”。

Let's look at two more sentences to get a grasp of it and use it with ease. 1 The thunder makes her blood run cold, walking back home with a small umbrella in the heavy rain. 她撑着一把小雨伞顶着倾盆大雨走在回家的路上，雷声吓得她毛骨悚然。（备注：这个长句中walking back home with a small umbrella in the heavy rain是现在分词短语做时间状语。）2 It made the old woman's blood run cold that she was robbed by two young guys with a sharp sword. 这位老妇人遭到2个年轻男子的抢劫，被吓得毛骨悚然。
