You know, I think we're trying out very best because we are writers and we are teachers

and that is, we have the young people right there in our classrooms.

And we are doing our best to educate them, give them ideas, show them ways of thinking and values.

And then, of course, there's the teaching but then we're doing our best with our art.

And we're just hoping that we've educated those kids so that they will read.

Sometimes I really do get into despair, though.

We were, I was at a demonstration in front of the White House with all the kinds of artists and dancers and poets.

And everybody putting their art out there with the faith that artists have; that we will change the world with our music.
