Jo Cox, a British Labour MP, died after she was shot and stabbed as she arrived at her constituency office near Leeds. A local gardener, Tommy Mair, was arrested. She had been campaigning for Remain ahead of the Brexit referendum; both sides suspended their campaigns following the attack. A motive remains unclear. Ms Cox was 41, married with two children.
