事件：菲比曾经的最爱戴维短暂回国前来看望菲比。菲比没有告诉他自己现在有男朋友，反而完全沉浸在戴维对她的赞美中。

David: Well, just for a couple of days, um, I'm here to explain to the people who gave us our grant, why it's a positive thing that we spent all their money and uh, accomplished um, nothing.
戴维：只待几天，呃，我回来是为了跟我们的赞助商解释，为什么我们花光了他们给的补贴却什么都没研究出来还是个好事。
Phoebe: Who cares, it got you here.
菲比：管它呢，你回来就好。
David: Well, it got me to New York anyway, and then I got on a cab at the airport, and the guy said where to, and I just gave him your address. I... I... I didn't even think about it.
戴维：是啊，不管怎么说我回纽约了，然后我在机场打了辆出租车，司机问我去哪儿，我就给了他你的地址，我，我，我甚至都没多想。
Phoebe: Wow. Where is your luggage?
菲比：哇。你的行李呢？
David: Damn it!
戴维：见鬼！
Phoebe: A-All right, well, I'll call the cab company.
菲比：没，没关系，嗯，我打电话给出租车公司。
David: Wa... wa... wait! We can call them later. Can you just... just stand there f-f-for a moment? Boy! There's an old Russian expression, um, it goes: Что я здесь вижу, ой! Roughly translated that means um: This thing that I'm looking at, wow!
戴维：等，等，等一下！我们一会儿再给他们打电话。你能，你能在那儿站一会儿吗？天啊！俄语里有句俗语是这么说的：Что я здесь вижу, ой! 大概意思是：美艳不可方物。
Phoebe: Thank you! God, no! You should see me when... Oh actually, no, I look pretty good.
菲比：谢谢你！哦不！你不应该现在来看我……哦，实际上，不，我现在看起来很不错。
David: Are... are you kidding? You know, when you don't see someone for a long time, a-a-and you kind of build them up in your head and you start thinking about: Come on, don't be crazy. Nobody is that beautiful, but, well, you are. Well, so, um, are you seeing anyone?
戴维：岂止，岂止是不错？你知道吗，当很久未见一个人的时候，你会在脑海中构想那个人的美貌，但是你转而会想，别犯傻了，天下哪里会有那么漂亮的女子，但是，你就是那么漂亮。那么，嗯，你现在有男朋友吗？
Phoebe: No.
