第六十八章
He who in (Tao's) wars has skill
善为士者,
Assumes no martial port;
不武;
He who fights with most good will
善战者,
To rage makes no resort.
不怒;
He who vanquishes yet still
善胜敌者,
Keeps from his foes apart;
不与;
He whose hests men most fulfil
善用人者,
Yet humbly plies his art.
为之下。
Thus we say, 'He ne'er contends, And therein is his might.'
是谓不争之德,
Thus we say, 'Men's wills he bends, That they with him unite.'
是谓用人之力,
Thus we say, 'Like Heaven's his ends, No sage of old more bright.'
是谓配天古之极。
