This whole story started because my friend recommended that I watched this movie.
故事还要从我朋友推荐我看这部电影开始。

And as usual, I had to do some research.

After so many years we asked the ticket seller if people are really still coming to see it.

As an American, this seems just like a classic love story.

But clearly, there's something more going on.

So I spoke to Anupama Chopra.

She's a film critic here in India and the woman who literally wrote the book on DDLJ.

"My book was called Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, a modern classic.
“这本书叫‘《勇夺芳心》：现代经典之作’。
And the idea was to explore why DDLJ became the cult that it did.
我写这本书的初衷是为了挖掘DDLJ如此受大家推崇的原因。
Before DDLJ, people...when you fell in love, it was, it was just so more formal,
DDLJ面世之前的那些电影里，大家……电影中的主人公要是坠入爱河了，TA的爱情故事会循规蹈矩得多，
and also you have to understand, this film released at a time when this country had just opened up.

I wanted to know why he was still playing this movie after 24 years.

"I myself have seen this film at least 2025 times.
“这部电影我自己至少已经看过2025遍了。
What I have done, is just because I like this film.
我之所以做这一切，纯粹是因为我喜欢这部电影。

And to think, I got to learn all this, because they googled the movie in my living room one day.
