Bride picks affordable wedding dress from Shein for US$47, and her minimal, low-cost big day goes viral on social media

As wedding costs skyrocket because of inflation, one California couple’s efforts to keep their special day below US$500 have gone viral.

According to US television show Good Morning America, Kiara and Joel Brokenbrough of Los Angeles decided to be “as minimal as possible” when planning their nuptials, including purchasing a US$47 wedding dress from Shein, a digital retailer similar to Fashion Nova.

“I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a dress because I had the mindset I’m gonna wear this one time for a few hours,” Kiara told the outlet.

Kiara posted videos of the low-cost wedding and dress to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube where they amassed more than 1 million views.
