Bill Gates' Daughter Phoebe Admits 'Insecurity' Over 'Nepo Baby' Status
Billionaire Bill Gates' 22-year-old daughter, Phoebe, has opened up about her fears over being perceived as a privileged "nepo baby" when she moved out of her father's $130 million compound to attend college.
Phoebe, who is the youngest of Microsoft founder Bill's three children with his ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, left the family nest in 2021 to head to Stanford University, where she received a degree in human biology—although she is now working on her own sustainable shopping website while also launching a new podcast on Alex Cooper's network, Unwell.
In the debut episode of that podcast, which is titled "The Burnouts," Phoebe opens up to her business partner, co-host, and fellow Stanford graduate, Sophia Kianni, about what it was like to attend college as the daughter of such a wealthy and well-known businessman, admitting that her status as a "nepo baby" gave her "so much insecurity."
"I had so much insecurity and, like, such a desire to prove myself," she shares. "I was like, 'I have so much privilege. I’m a nepo baby.'... [I had] so much insecurity around that."
