The sacred flame of the Beijing Olympic Games has arrived in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, the 13th leg of its global tour.

Jiang Xiaoyu is vice president of the Beijing Organizing Committee of Olympic Games.

"This time we came to Kuala Lumpur with the flame and the Olympic spirit, that is to promote peace, friendship and development. We also brought the Chinese people's sincere wish and fraternal love for Malaysians."

Local Malaysians also welcomed the arrival of the Olympic flame at the airport.

"On behalf of Malaysia, we are very very proud as Malaysia is one of the chosen destinations for the relay. Congratulations to China! See you at the 2008 Olympics."

Eighty torch bearers will take part in the relay scheduled for Monday afternoon.
