China's gymnastics team is expected to make the most of its home advantage at the Beijing Olympics and challenge the sport's traditional Olympic superpowers like the United States, Russia and Romania.
Yang Wei, the twice world champion, says the Games ahead will have many uncertainties, but he will make his utmost efforts.
"Gymnastics have many uncertain factors involved. Even in training, there's no way you can perform well every time, let alone in the real competitions. I feel that I'm in good form right now and will deliver the best performance at the Games."
Li Xiaopeng, another top Chinese gymnast, has also returned to the team after serious injuries with fine form.
The 27-year-old Sydney Olympic champion on parallel bars was struggling with multiple injuries after the Athens Games in 2004 and had an ankle operation in 2006.
Meanwhile, China's women's gymnastics team is also expected to perform well in August.
In last year's World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, China's Cheng Fei won gold on vault, Yang Yilin won bronze on the uneven bars and Li Shanshan won bronze on the beam.
They are now eyeing gold in the Beijing Olympics.
