Peruvian police says tight security measures will be adopted for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit taking place in the capital, Lima, next week.
Julio Vergara, Director of Operations with the Peruvian Police Department, assured reporters of the efforts they will devote to the security of participants.
"This plan of operations will allow us to guarantee the participant's safety - be it presidents, first ladies, foreign ministers or member of the public - in the different venues where APEC will take place."
Over 2-thousand officials will be in charge of personal security for the leaders, their wives and other high level ministers.
