20-something Liu Wei is expected to graduate from a college in Hebei province in the summer of this year. She recently committed suicide because of pressures to find a job.
In her diary, Liu Wei had written she was worthless, and that all the knowledge she acquired in school and college was useless. Liu was unable to handle the pressure of the competitive job market, and her family was swamped in debt after paying for her education.
An article on Xinhuanet.com says although the girl's suicide is an extreme case, it should serve as a warning that college students are desperate for help.
The article adds that colleges and society should reach out to students, as well as create more jobs for fresh graduates.
