Doctors at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital are treating a woman with a bacterial infection that no antibiotic is working against.
Doctor Tom Frieden, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, talked about it today at the National Press Club in Washington:
“Resistant to every antibiotic, including the last one we had, Colistin.
It's an old antibiotic, but it was the only one left for what I've called nightmare bacteria.”
Frieden says this 49-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, has not left the country.
She acquired it here.
