A German police have shot dead a 17-year-old Afghan refugee following an attack in the southern state of Bavaria. The youth attacked passengers with an axe and knife on a train near the city of Wuerzburg.
Three people were seriously wounded following the attack.
Police said the teenager was shot by officers after he tried to flee.
Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said it was possibly a religious attack, after some passengers reported the youth shouting "Allahu akbar" or God is Greatest.
However he stressed the investigation was still ongoing. The youth arrived in Germany as an unaccompanied minor and had lived in a shelter before being placed with a foster family in Ochsenfurt.
