Pope Francis becoming the third Pope to visit the site of the Auschwitz death camp in Poland, where German forces killed more than a million people.

The chief rabbi of Poland reciting a psalm. The Pope barely said a word and made no comment to reporters. He said beforehand that no words can describe the horror of what happened at Auschwitz. But he did write in the memorial guestbook: “Lord, have mercy on your people. Lord, forgive so much cruelty.”
