President Trump is proposing to slash $3.6 trillion in government spending over the next decade, including $800 billion from Medicaid and more than $192 billion from food stamps.
But White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney says the budget also calls for a $1.6 billion down payment to begin building a wall along the U.S.border with Mexico:
(Mulaney) “We are absolutely dead serious about the wall. In fact, after taking care of national security and the vets, my guess is it’s in the President’s top three. In fact I know that it is.”
In a statement, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the President’s budget proposal shows he does not value the future of seniors, children and working families.
