FOX on Love with Ashley Papa. The Caribbean is one of the most popular spots for honeymooners and weddings. But what happens when a hurricane threatens your romantic plans? Mark Durliat, CEO of Grace Bay Resorts in the Turks and Caicos offers advice for couples facing this obstacle:
"Historically the hotel will work with you to provide some sort of refund or reschedule. It's more about someone who has a wedding that's been organized post hurricane or they might be concerned about the condition of the destination or the resort."
If you and your sweetie and potentially dozens of wedding guests are already on the island when a hurricane is en-route, Durliat says the priority is to get off the island: "Our next step would be to work with the government and the hotel association and the airlines to ensure that more planes are flown in empty to ensure those customers are evacuated."
It can often be tempting to book weddings and honeymoons during hurricane season as rates tend to be cheaper, but why risk having your fairytale wedding get washed out?
