The online retail giant Amazon ready to go on a shopping spree of its own, announcing plans for a second headquarters in North America which could cost more than $5 billion and houses as many as 50,000 employees. CEO Jeff Beyzos in a statement saying the new space will be a full equal of its current home in Seattle.
No decision yet on where Amazon might set down roots next, but there is a wishlist. Some of the things on the list: that it be near a metropolitan area with more than a million people, be able to attract top technical talent, have direct access to mass transit and eventually be expandable to eight million square feet.
The company is inviting proposals.
