The National Transportation Safety Board says a preliminary exam shows evidence of metal fatigue on the Southwest Airlines jet engine that blew apart amid air. One female passenger died. The plane made an emergency landing in Philadelphia.
The largest wildfire in Oklahoma has now burned at least 384 square miles. Hot, dry, windy weather created dangerous fire conditions there and in areas of Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, and Colorado.
And former fist lady Barbra Bush has died at the age of 92. She was the wife of the nation's 41th president and mother of the 43rd.
