12 people were killed as thousands rallied in the state of Tamil Nadu. For 3 months they've been rallying against one of India's largest copper plants calling it a major source of pollution. Tuesday though turned violent.
Has police tried to disperse the crowd with tear gas and water cannons before firing live ammunition. The plant owned by Conglomerate Van Dantos Resources can produce 400,000 tons of copper a year. It's been closed more than 50 days and will likely remain closed for the next few weeks.
