The upcoming Pingyao International Film Festival in October is hosting a retrospective of Indian New-Wave cinema from the 1950s to the 1970s.
The retrospective includes 12 classics such as the Pathetic Fallacy, Mr. Shome, and In Two Minds.
The Pingyao film festival holds a program on new wave cinema each year, with last year's retrospective focusing on Russian movies.
Festival's Artistic Director Marco Mueller says the event builds a direct connection between filmmakers and viewers.
"We focus obviously on the new directors. But we also need contents. So we often invite important filmmakers, even masters. But what's extraordinary is that they make themselves available for the viewers to discuss cinema and their films. And the audiences are participating in a very enthusiastic way."
52 films from 26 countries and regions will be screened during the film festival, among which 28 are world premieres.
