A horrific crash on one of Melbourne's major freeways has killed four police officers, leaving the state in shock. The crash happened yesterday evening, when the police pulled over a speeding Porsche on the Eastern Freeway. As they were questioning the driver, the group was hit by a truck, killing all four of the officers. The commissioner says it's the largest single loss of life in the history of Victoria police. The driver of the Porsche is on the run after fleeing the scene; the driver of the truck is in hospital.
The number of coronavirus cases in Australia is continuing to fall, with just 12 new infections recorded in the past 24 hours. The Ruby Princess — the country's single biggest source of COVID-19 — is finally set to depart from Australian waters today. The ship's crew members have been locked inside for more than a month. That's after almost two-thousand-700 passengers were allowed to leave the ship in Sydney last month. More than 600 cases of coronavirus have since been linked to the Ruby Princess and at least 21 people have died. Over a hundred crew members have disembarked in the past 24 hours with 21 of them testing positive to COVID-19. They've been taken to quarantine hotels in Sydney.
