Washington earlier announced it will impose new restrictions on Huawei's acquisition of semiconductors that are the direct products of certain U, S, software and technology.
The British government in January approved a restricted role for Huawei in helping build the country's 5G network.
It's now reviewing the impact of the proposed U.S. restrictions.
Reports suggest the country is likely to end the use of Huawei technology in the 5G network as soon as this year.
The Hong Kong Police commissioner says the law on safeguarding national security in the city will provide legal supports for law enforcement.
Tang Ping-keung says the law has helped enable a better situation for Hong Kong police officers.
"Over the past year, Hong Kong (was) crippled with a rise in violent clashes. Some incidents involved acts of secession, subversion of state power, terrorist activities and collusion with foreign or external forces to endanger national security. However, in the past, we did not have relevant legislations to prevent and curb such offenses. Now, the national security law clearly stipulates the specified composition and corresponding criminal liability for those four types of crimes."
He adds that the police will support and assist the committee for safeguarding national security of Hong Kong and work with other law enforcement authorities to bring lawbreakers to justice.
The law was adopted on June 30th.
Several Chinese regions have raised their flood response levels as heavy rains continued over the weekend.
Rainfall in some parts of Anhui, Hubei, Hunan and Zhejiang provinces has exceeded 20 centimetres in the past two days.

The body of a private secretary to two former Argentine presidents has been found, after being reported missing.
Fabian Gutierrez was a private secretary to former presidents Nestor Kirchner and Cristina Fernandez, who is currently Vice President.
Four people have been arrested in connection to his death.
In 2018, Gutierrez was linked to a corruption scandal involving public projects during the Kirchner and Fernandez administrations.
Last year, he was arrested and jailed on money-laundering charges.

The 60-year-old legend says she has long considered retirement from the position after winning Olympic and World Cup gold medals with the national team.
