Jam Hsiao ready for MTV awards
FLEDGING Taiwan pop singer Jam Hsiao (Xiao Jingteng) will take part in the 2008 Annual CCTV-MTV Music Awards at the Workers’ Stadium on November 16. He rocketed to fame through The One Million Star talent show in Taiwan last year and published his first book Jam Hsiao’s Adulthood Ceremony. Hsiao is likely to clinch one of the 22 awards. A number of awards, such as the Most Popular Male and Female Artists from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, will be decided by an Internet poll. The host will also be determined by a “I Have a Say” Internet vote, from among Vanessa Wu (Wu Jianhao), JJLam (Lin Junjie) and Leehom Wang (Wang Lihong). If you want your favorite star to win an award, don’t forget to cast your vote at www.mtvchina.com.
Barbie in no hurry to find new man
TAIWAN actress and hostess Barbie Hsu (Xu Xiyuan or Big S) recently disclosed that she is enjoying being single after breaking up with ex-boyfriend, Vic Chow (Zhou Yumen). She said that her sister, Dee Hsu (Xu Xidi or Small S), has been secretly matchmaking for her, but had raised the standards for candidates too high. Any potential partner must learn to appreciate Hsu’s dark humor, accept her weirdness and take good care of her at the same time. But Barbie asserted that she’s not in a hurry to fall in love again, and is happy focusing on work. She has recently been invited to join Andy Lau’s new film Future Cops.
