In the Weifang City of Shandong Province, kites are more than toys; they are also the cultural symbol of the city. Known as "Kite Capital of the World", Weifang has had a history of kite-flying of nearly 2,400 years. Legend has it that Mozi, an ancient Chinese philosopher, spent three years making the first kite of the world in Weifang, but the kite fell and broke on its first day of flying.
