The Forest Man of India
印度森林之子
On Majuli Island in northern India, there is a beautiful place called Molai Forest.
在印度北部的马久利岛上，有一个美丽的地方叫做莫莱森林。
It is the home of tigers, rhinos, monkeys, birds, and insects.
它是老虎、犀牛、猴子、鸟类和昆虫的家园。
More than one hundred elephants visit the forest every year.
每年会有一百多头大象到访这座森林。
There are tall, green trees and many plants.
这里有高大、绿色的树木和许多植物。
But fifty years ago, this place used to be very different.
但50年前，这个地方和现在完全不一样。
How did it use to be different? It didn't use to have many animals or trees. It was like a desert.
过去有什么不同呢？在过去，这里根本没有很多动物和树木。就像一片沙漠一样。
It changed because of one man -- Jadav Payeng.
这一切都因为一个人而改变--贾达夫·帕扬。
Jadav was born on Majuli lsland. In 1979, when he was a teenager, he started to plant trees.
贾达夫出生在马久利岛。1979年，当他还是个青少年的时候，他就开始种树。
He planted many more trees over the years. The forest began to grow slowly, and the animals moved into it.
这些年来他种了更多的树。森林开始慢慢繁盛，动物们也搬进来了。
Now Molai Forest is bigger than one thousand soccer fields.
现在的莫莱森林比一千个足球场还要大。
Jadav is called "The Forest Man of India" and he is very famous.
贾达夫被称为“印度森林之子”，现在非常有名。
But he still gets up very early every day and travels to his forest to plant new trees, to take care of the land, and to make sure the trees are healthy.
但他仍然每天很早起床，去他的森林里种新树，照顾土地，确保树木健康。
Jadav Payeng shows us all that one person can make a big difference in the world.
