Candidate 2: Honestly, I have few traveling experience since I've never been to some places of interest basically. However, if I had a chance someday, I'd love to visit the Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve(自然保护区), a fairyland(仙境) on earth. It was listed as one of the world heritage(遗产) sites in 1992, and it enjoys a world-wide reputation for its unique identity and diversity in natural scenery. Every year Jiuzhaigou attracts a large number of tourists from all over the world. And I'm eager to make a tour of that fairyland, experiencing the harmony between man and nature. The nature view, such as the mountains, lakes, primeval forests(原始森林), beautiful flowers, is fabulous(极妙的). Only when we place ourselves there, can we really understand the concept of beauty. In a word, it'll be my dreamland forever.
Candidate 3: The question makes me feel a little hesitant(踌躇的,犹豫的), for there are so many wonderful places around the world. They all shine like precious stones, attracting thousands and millions of tourists every year.
However, if there is only one choice, mine should be Salzburg, Austria, without any doubt. Located at the northern boundary of the Alps, the city enjoys world-wide fame for her baroque architecture. When you wander in the streets, appreciating the unique buildings all around, I'm sure you'll be intoxicated with self-satisfaction(自我陶醉).
Besides, Salzburg is the hometown of the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a world-famous musician, and also the birthplace of the melody in Sound of Music. Quite often the city is considered as the paradise(天堂) on earth. But I love her also because Stephan Zweig, one of my favorite writers, lived there for about 15 years. The warmth he felt from the city, as he described in the autobiography(自传) "The World of Yesterday", really touched me. Compared to other cities, it might not be a great one, but surely among the most impressive ones.
3. Have you been to a place with culture that is different from yours? What differences have you noticed?
Candidate 1: The topic of cultural difference is too big to talk about, so I just comment on the difference of faith between Western countries and China. In the western countries people believe in only one God. It is Jesus Christ(耶稣基督) who controls and knows everything in the world. While in China, people believe that many gods exist in the world. Different gods are in charge of different affairs. For example, the Dragon King decides whether it will rain or not; God of Wealth dominated man's fortune; the God of Land controls the growth of the plant. People pray god for an aim. But if their dream doesn't come true, they will never complain of(抱怨) the god. Instead, they won't believe in it again, and they may resort to(求助于) another one.
Candidate 2: To be honest, I have not been to a place whose culture is quite different from mine. But one of my friends has ever been in Korea for about two months. When I was in the senior school, there was a chance to go to our brother school in Korea during the summer holiday. My friend was lucky and she shared her experience with me. First, Korean students usually have meals together. They figure that the person who eat alone must be a poor guy with no friend. While in our Chinese opinion, it's quite a normal phenomenon. Second, in Korea, the elder frequently beat the young, especially on the back of the head. The young are not allowed to resist the elder. Third, the wife ought to stay at home and obey the husband's order. However, in China, women and men have the equal right, and women can make their own decisions. Last, the Korean always put the pillows and quilts into the colset(柜橱) after getting up, which seems very strange to us. There are many other differences between the two countries. We should respect both.
