Our high school has a zero-tolerance policy about puppy love, which I'm strongly against. Our school's concern is that dating can be distracting for students who should focus 100 % on their study. Plus, high school students are too young to handle the complicated stuff in a romantic relationship. There's always news about students committing suicide after a nasty break-up. Our school doesn't want to see that kind of tragedy happen to us.
However, our school is being totally unreasonable. For starters, about the distraction part, I actually know a lot of couples who got into prestigious universities together. So you see, it has absolutely no negative effect on our study at all. For those who actually did horribly at their study, well, personally I believe it has nothing to do with puppy love. I mean, they would have bad grades even if they didn't date.
And I'm not happy about being called 'immature'. Today's teenagers are more sophisticated and mature than those in the past. We are fully capable of dealing with all those complex stuff when we are having a relationship.
Besides, it's human nature to find another person to care about and love, it's just wrong for our school to have this stupid rule. I strongly believe that dating helps us grow, and learn about how to care about others instead of being a selfish person.
