Holiday travelers embark on return tirp
With the end of China's Spring Festival holiday approaching, the country's transportation system is again being put to the test, as millions return to work.
Over six hundred extra trains are hitting the tracks to deal with all of the travelers, as was done in the run up to the annual celebration.
Tickets for many major routes have already sold out, including from Hunan Province to Guangzhou and Shanghai and from Jiangxi Province to Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Train tickets to Beijing are also in short supply.
Some railway stations will be conducting ID checks prior to boarding trains and are asking travelers to allocate extra time for check in. Airlines say there are not enough tickets on a number of flights from Chongqing, Chengdu and Xi’an to Guangzhou, while others are offering last minute discount fares.
